Four deaths in Orissa after India's World Cup defe

Four persons in Orissa died over India's defeat in the World Cup final at South Africa, two committed suicide while two others died of heart attack, police said on Wednesday.

Alekh Sethi, 60, a resident of Badakhandeita village under the Biridi block in the district of Cuttack was watching the World Cup when he felt a sharp pain in his chest soon after Tendulkar's dismissal. He went to take a rest and died in his sleep, police said.

Similarly, Brahamananda Das, 28, a resident of Taradapada village in Jagatsinghpur district, fell unconscious after India's defeat. He suffered a heart attack and died.

Narottam Pradhan, 30, a cook in a hotel in capital Bhubaneswar consumed poison after watching India's defeat. His colleagues admitted him in a hospital where he died, police said.

Sankarsan Parija, 32, of Pandia village in Kendrapada district was watching the telecast in a neighbour's house on Sunday and was hoping for an Indian win.

After the Aussies thrashed India, Parija got upset and hanged himself from a tree. In a note found near his body, he said, "I am dying because of India's defeat, please take care of my son and wife."
