The Bharatiya Janata Party will now hold its national convention in New Delhi. Earlier, it was scheduled to be held in Bangalore. A formal announcement is expected later.

 

Announcing the change in schedule, party president Rajnath Singh said, "I think the national council meeting should be held in New Delhi as it is logistically better for the participants and the media. The national executive will follow the council meet."

 

However, the date of the meet remains unchanged.

 

He said there was no restriction on covering the newly elected Gujarat Chief  Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Leader of Opposition L K Advani's residence on Saturday.

names about the Cabinet expansion in Gujarat were discussed. All leaders, who were present, gave their suggestions as to how to improve the party's chances in the ensuing state elections and the Lok Sabha elections," Rajnath Singh said.

 

A five-member committee was constituted to look into various suggestions in Gujarat.

 

"Modi will carry out his Cabinet expansion only after January 10," he said.

 

Meanwhile, former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalitha has invited Modi to hold talks with her in Chennai on Makar Sakranti. 

 

"These talks will have a great impact for the coming Lok Sabha elections," said Arun Jaitley, general secretary of the party.
