Three people were killed and six others injured as protests continued in Kashmir on Saturday, taking the toll in the 100-day-old unrest to 97.

Search parties on Saturday morning fished out the body of 25-year old Maroof Ahmad Nath, who had jumped into river Jhelum in south Kashmir's Anantnag town on September 13, while being chased by security forces during clashes.

The news about the recovery of the body spread fast in Anantnag and thousands of people came out on the streets, where authorities had ordered a two-hour long curfew break on Saturday morning.

A senior police officer said mobs indulged in stone pelting on the security forces and also tried to attack the house of a politician in Khanabal area.

"Security forces had to open fire at the stone pelting mob after other crowd control measures

failed, injuring seven persons. One of them, identified as 25-year old Noorul Amin Dagga, succumbed to his injuries in the town hospital," the officer said.

He said the condition of two more injured victims was critical.

Another youth, 22-year-old Fayaz Ahmad Naikoo, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. He has been critically injured in firing by security forces on September 16.

Hundreds of people shouting anti-India slogans joined the funeral of Naikoo in the Bemina locality of Srinagar today morning.

The troops also opened fire at a mob that pelted stones on a camp in the frontier Kupwara district, injuring a protestor.

Authorities relaxed curfew in the uptown areas of Srinagar on Saturday afternoon for four hours. During the curfew relaxation, residents came out to purchase essential items.
