Former minister of state for external affairs and president of the National Conference, Omar Abdullah has objected the statement of Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari that the party is going to form the government on its own, in the newly elected Jammu and Kashmir assembly.
Talking to
rediff.com from Jammu, Abdullah said that this was a remote possibility unless the Congress decides to rig the elections. "The United Progressive Alliance government had assured us that it would hold free and fair elections which is the right of the people. If this is denied to the electorate then the government is going back on its words," he said.
Talking about the investigations into the
Malegoan bomb blasts, Abdullah said that this is very disturbing. "Only one institution had remained intact after the other pillars of democracy fell. It is unfortunate that the army which had been above all controversies has now come
under the scanner," he said.
