United States President Barack Obama on Thursday announced to nominate senior American diplomat Derek J Mitchell as his new Ambassador to Myanmar.
Mitchell is currently the Special Representative and Policy Coordinator for Burma (Myanmar), with the rank of Ambassador to which he was appointed by Obama in August 2011.
At the same time, Obama signed an executive order extending the US emergency against Burma for one more year.
