Mumbai's roads getting repaired for Obama's visit

Ahead of US President Barack Obama's visit, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has undertaken road repair work from the airport to suburban Bandra and in some parts of south Mumbai.

"We have undertaken repair work on probable stretches where the President will drive from," a senior civic official on condition of anonymity told PTI.

The stretches include Mumbai airport road to Bandra, south Mumbai's Nariman Point, Marine Drive, Taj hotel and Peddar Road and Bandra-Worli

"Bad patches and potholes will be filled up and debris will be cleared. Sidewalks and medians will also be painted," the official said.

When asked about the funds to be used, the official said that the civic body, which has allocated Rs 25 lakh to all its 24 wards for road works, will be used for carrying out repairs, he added.
