Dentist Nupur Talwar, mother of murdered teenager Aarushi, has expressed her desire to adopt the daughter of a fellow inmate of the Dasna jail, where she is currently lodged.
Talwar, who is lodged in Barrack 13 at Dasna Jail in Ghaziabad since April 30 in connection with the Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case, has asked for permission from Dasna Jail Superintendent Dr Virash Raj Sharma to adopt a little girl named Ravina Khan, who is also lodged in jail with her mother Sakina.
The permission to adopt the girl has, however, been denied by Sharma.
There is no provision in the jail manual for granting permission to adopt a child in prison, he told PTI.
After coming out of the jail, she shall be at liberty to adopt the child, he added. Nupur's husband Rajesh Talwar said that he has no objection to his wife adopting the girl.
Aarushi, 14, was found dead with her throat slit at her Noida residence on May 16, 2008. The body of domestic help Hemraj was recovered from the terrace a day later.
