A National Security Guard commando died of exhaustion during a rigorous exercise at the elite force's garrison in Manesar, Haryana. A junior commissioned officer, 34-year-old Ratan Lal had recently joined the NSG on deputation from the 6 PARA (Special Forces) of the Army, and was undertaking a battle induction exercise when he collapsed on the training ground, on Tuesday.
Lal was later taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, a source said.
"It is possible that it was a cardiac arrest," the source said, adding that the post mortem report was awaited. Lal, a resident of Ajmer in Rajasthan, was supposed to join the Special Action Group of the 'Black Cat' force, which undertakes anti-terror and counter-hijack operations.
