Senior Indian Administrative Service officer Pradeep Sharma, an accused in the National Rural Health Mission scam, who is lodged in the Dasna jail in Ghaziabad, developed severe pain in his back and was shifted to a separate barrack.
Sharma had been arrested from Lucknow's Amausi airport on May 10 when he was going to get a tumour in his back operated upon at the AIIMS in Delhi.
The senior officer, who was lodged in barrack number 16 (A) in Dasna jail was shifted to a separate barrack on May 17 when he developed severe pain in his spinal cord.
Jail Superintendent Dr Viresh Raj Sharma told PTI on Monday that specialist doctors were called from the district hospital to get him examined.
He said that nobody from his family or friends came to meet him in jail during the last four days. Shukla had been a former district magistrate here. A special Central Bureau of Investigation court had remanded Shukla, arrested for his alleged role in the multi-crore National Rural Health Mission scam, in judicial custody for 14 days on May 17.
The next hearing in the case is May 28.
