North-eastern insurgent groups are operating from Bangladesh and they have established links with the Inter Services Intelligence, the government on Wednesday informed the Rajya Sabha saying the matter has been taken up with Pakistan.

"Available inputs indicate that some Indian insurgent groups active in the NE region have been using the territory of Bangladesh and have links with Pakistan's ISI," Minister of State for Home Shriprakash Jaiswal said in reply to a written question.

He said there were reports of inter-linkages between these outfits for tactical purposes of shelter, hideouts, procurement of arms and training.

Elaborating on steps taken by the Centre and state governments in ensuring security, he said the government had taken up the issue of action against these outfits and their camps with Bangladesh at various fora.

The issue of terrorism and "continuing terrorist infrastructure" was also taken up with Pakistan at bilateral meetings, including the Joint Anti-Terrorism Mechanism between the two countries in Delhi on October 22.

"Both sides shared new information on terrorist incidents including those which have occurred since the last meeting," Jaiswal said.

The minister said the Centre has issued administrative instructions to state governments and Union Territories to take sustained action to detect foreign nationals, including Bangladeshi nationals staying illegally in the country, and for their immediate deportation.

A total of 83,050 Bangladeshi nationals have been deported from India between 2003 and '06, he added.
