Normal life was disrupted in the Kashmir valley on Tuesday due to a strike called by several organisations to protest against an anti-Islam film.

Schools, shops, business establishments and fuel stations were closed due to the strike called by Kashmir Economic Alliance.

The strike call was supported by hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front, Kashmir High Court Bar Association and many religious groups as well.

The lawyers' body has decided to abstain from work in the courts on Tuesday as a mark of protest against the film. The roads in most parts of the valley wore a deserted look as public and private transport remained off the roads.

However, some private cars and security force vehicles could be seen plying the roads.

Peaceful protests against the film have been reported from several areas in the city and elsewhere in the valley.
