Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin on Wednesday rubbished reports that his elder brother, Union Minister M K Alagiri, would quit the Cabinet after the monsoon session of Parliament, saying they were not true.

"There is no truth in these reports," Stalin told mediapersons in Chennai after chairing a meeting of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's youth wing of which he is the mentor.

Earlier, some television reports said Alagiri was considering resigning from the Union Cabinet and returning to state politics as assembly polls in Tamil Nadu are scheduled next year.

To a query about All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief Jayalalithaa's criticism of the DMK staging a state-wide protest against her on August 4 for seeking frequent adjournments in the disproportionate wealth case, Stalin said his party would go ahead with the protest.

On Tuesday Jayalalithaa had described as laughable and unheard of the ruling DMK's decision to stage a protest against an Opposition leader on a legal matter.
