No new Manipur MLA has a criminal record

A report by the Association for Democratic Reforms states that none of the 60 newly-elected MLAs of the Manipur assembly, has declared criminal cases against him/her.

In the 2007 assembly elections, 2 per cent MLAs had declared criminal cases against themselves.

Other observations in the report:

* Out of all 60 MLAs analysed from Manipur, 16 are
crorepatis. In 2007, only 1 MLA was crorepati.

* The MLAs with maximum assets in Manipur are T N Haokip (Congress MLA from Saikot-ST) with assets worth Rs 10.07 crore followed by fellow party leader Ksh Biren Singh from Lamlai with Rs 5.22 crore and MSCP MLA from Sagoiband RK IMO Singh with Rs 2.72 crore.

* Only 4 (7 per cent) MLAs (out of 60 analysed) are 10th pass and below.

* Out of 60 MLAs, only 3 are women.
