The Army on Thursday dismissed reports of a build-up by Indian forces on the Sino-Indian border, but said infrastructure on the boundary in Arunachal Pradesh was being developed in a "big way".

"There has been no change in the force level along the border. No additional forces have been deployed along the Chinese border anywhere in the North East," Shillong-based 101 Area GOC Maj Gen KS Sethi said.

The GOC, replying to a question on reports that India has deployed additional forces along the Chinese border, said, "There has been no increase in the logistic support to the forces deployed in the region."

The 101 Area is responsible for providing logistic support to Army personnel deployed in the North East.

He, however, said the infrastructure along the border in Arunachal Pradesh was being developed in a "big way".

"The pace of the work has been slow due to the difficult terrain, but within a few years, the infrastructure will be improved substantially," Sethi added.

Downplaying reports of Chinese intrusions, Maj Gen Sethi said the border was not well-defined and on occasions troops from both countries tend to move into a territory claimed by the other.
