NHRC visits stir-hit Bhatta Parsaul

A team of National Human Rights Commission on Tuesday visited the Bhatta Parsaul village, which had witnessed farmers' agitation on land acquisition, and talked to villagers to investigate alleged violation of human rights.

NHRC Senior Senior Superintendent of police Viplav Kumar led the investigation team. The team, which was at the village for six hours on Tuesday, was expected to visit to record the statements of victims of alleged police atrocities and others.

District Magistrate Deepak Aggarwal and senior police and administrative officers accompanied the NHRC team which also inquired from the officers about the situation which led to the firing in which two farmers and two Provincial Armed Constabulary men were killed on May 7.
