Karnataka Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda on Sunday said the state would get a new Lokayukta in the next 15 days.
"The process of consultation for the appointment of Lokayukta will be completed in next 15 days," he told reporters.
Gowda said he has written to the Chief Justice of Karnataka high court Justice Vikramjit Sen and leaders of the opposition in both houses of state legislature, Siddaramaiah and Motamma.
The state is witnessing a standoff between the BJP government and Governor H R Bhardwaj on the appointment of Lokayukta, as a result of which the post has been lying vacant for the last five months.
The Government has recommended the name of former Kerala high court Chief Justice S R Bannurmath as Lokayukta, but it has been rejected by the Governor, who is insisting on a "spotless" person for the post.
