The political situation in Nepal and the ongoing peace process figured in talks India's Ambassador to the country Shiv Shanker Mukherjee on Wednesday held with the acting Prime Minister Amik Serchan.

Mukherjee called on Deputy Prime Minister Serchan, who is acting as prime minister, at the latter's office at Singhdurbar, according to official sources.

Nepal's Premier Girija Prasad Koirala is currently undergoing treatment in Thailand.

During the meeting, the current political situation and the ongoing peace process mainly figured, sources said.

This was a courtesy call by the ambassador, an Indian embassy staff said adding, matters of bilateral concern and mutual concern were discussed during the meeting.

India has been supporting Nepal's democratisation process and recently offered an economic package to the insurgency-hit country.
