Yechury meets PM before meeting of Cong Core group

Communist Party of India-Marxist leader Sitaram Yechury met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday, hours before the core group of the Congress met to discuss ways to ease the standoff between the Left and the United Progressive Alliance over the India-United States nuclear agreement.

During the 30-minute meeting, Yechury briefed Singh about the deliberations of the CPI-M's

central committee and the position taken by the Left party in connection with the deal.

According to CPI-M sources, Singh assured Yechury that he will look into the issues raised at the central committee meeting
