We are yet to take a stand on N-deal: Janata Dal

July 12, 2008

The Janata Dal (S), which has three members in Lok Sabha, has not yet taken any decision on extending support to the trust vote to be sought by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the Lok Sabha during special session on July 21 and 22, party president H D Deve Gowda said on Saturday.

Talking to newspersons, Gowda said, "We have not taken any decision either to vote in favour of the UPA or not. The party will sit together and deliberate on the Indo-US nuclear deal issue before arriving at any decision in this regard."

The four-year-old Congress-led UPA Government will seek a vote of confidence in the Lok Sabha, following withdrawal of support by the Left Parties in protest against Centre's stand on the nuclear deal.

The support of the JD(S) would be crucial for the UPA Government. JD(S) has been contacted by both the UPA and the Left parties to support their stands on the nuclear deal.
