Ahead of the crucial United Progressive Alliance-Left committee meeting on October 5 on the Indo-US deal, the Communist Party of India-Marxist on Wednesday accused the UPA government of accepting the "diktats" of the Bush administration of which the nuclear agreement "was a part."

Addressing a Left-sponsored rally in Kolkata on price rise, West Bengal state secretary and ruling Left Front chairman Biman Bose alleged that the nuclear deal had a direct impact on the internal policies and escalation of prices of essential commodities in the country.

"US imperialism has cast a shadow on India and the nuclear deal will make India's foreign policy subservient to the US. It is also bound to impact the internal (economic) policies and escalate the prices of essential commodities in the country," Bose, a CPI-M politburo member, said.

"The UPA government is taking the country on a dangerous path," he said.
