Communist Party of India general secretary A B Bardhan on Saturday night said, "The ball is in the United Progressive Alliance's court" as far as the India-US nuclear agreement is concerned.
"It is for the UPA to decide on the future course of action," Bardhan said, addressing the valedictory session of the Bhagat Singh Centenary celebrations in Alappuzha.
"We cannot agree with any encroachement on the independent foreign policy we pursue," he said.
The CPI leader said there were already nuclear plants operating in the country independent of external control.
