The ruling National Conference (NC) on Sunday morning took out a rally in Srinagar against the increasing incidents of stone-pelting and violence in Kashmir.

Led by its senior leaders, the rally was joined by party supporters who marched in the city's civil lines area, shouting slogans.

The marchers carried placards denouncing the stone pelting which the senior NC leaders said 'would unsettle the tourism industry which is expecting a boom'.

Sunday's rally began from the party headquarters in uptown and later culminated near the city centre, Lal Chowk peacefully.

On Friday, a 40-year-old government employee was killed in a stone pelting incident in the Batmallo locality of the summer capital Srinagar when hardline separatist leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, had called for march to the United Nations Military Observers Group (UNMOG) headquarters.

A day later, Mohammad Rafiq, a school peon, was also injured in another stone pelting incident in the same area of the city.
