Members of the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist lifted the siege on Patna district's Nadaul railway station nearly two hours after seizing it on Sunday night.
After the Naxalites left the station, traffic on the Patna-Gaya sector of the East-Central Railway has resumed, railway sources said.
Heavily armed extremists of the outfit had seized the railway station on the Patna-Jehanabad border, about 30 km from the capital, around 2230 IST after chasing away the station master Rajesh Kumar and other staff, chief public relations officer A K Chandra told PTI.
Naxalites left the station past midnight and when the police reached the spot at about 0030 IST, nobody was found, Chandra said.
Services on the Patna-Gaya section have resumed after remaining suspended for nearly two hours, he said.
The CPI (Maoist) rebels had in a daring attack freed nearly 400 inmates of the Jehanabad sub-jail on November 13.
A few weeks ago, they had seized a train in neighbouring Jharkhand but caused no harm to the passengers.
