TheĀ union government on Monday rubbished charges made by the National Democratic Alliance that the Nanavati commission report on the 1984 anti-sikh riots was an "eye-wash" and said it was committed to provide justice and take stringent action.
"We are an open government. We have tabled the report and the ATR much before the date we had promised. Whatever action is needed as per the law would be acomplished," Minister of State for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal told reporters.

He said there would a thorough debate in Parliament on the report and whatever decision is taken, would be implemented by the government.
Asked about NDA and Akali Dal charges that the Nanavati commission report was an eye-wash as it had no mention of Sikh killings in Bokaro, Kanpur and elsewhere, Jaiswal said it was constituted by the NDA government and only the Nanawati commission would be able to say anything in this regard.
"We ourselves want that all the truths must come out. We are committed to provide justice and take stringent action in this regard," he replied when asked what step the government would take as police officials named in the report, had retired, and Dharam Dass Shastri was dead.
