Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf raked up the Kashmir issue at the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Monday.

Addressing the summit on the opening day, Musharraf said the United Nations had recognised the legitimate rights of the people of Kashmir and Palestine and the NAM should not shy away from the issue.

Musharraf also alleged human rights violations in Kashmir, Palestine and Luanda.

He said he was opposed to terrorism but wanted the root cause of the menace to be addressed by the 116-member grouping.

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in his speech later in the day, is expected to respond to the Pakistani leader's comments.
