With no headway into the Mumbai serial blasts of July 11 and the terrorists still at large, the city could face the prospect of more terror strikes in the country's financial capital, a senior police officer warned on Friday.
Describing Tuesday's blasts as "high sophisticated" for its planning and the fact that no bomb did not explode, the officer said it is possible that the terror module may feel emboldened to carry out more such attacks in the near future.
"The aim behind the attacks was to create panic and cause communal riots, both of which have not happened. The terrorists may feel a second strike quickly may do the job," he added.
According to the officer, the attack could happen anywhere. "They have now struck on trains. If they find the security improved on the Railways, they may strike on buses, markets, cinemas, malls, and even temples."
What is needed at the moment, he said, are good intelligence, an alert public, and political will.
