A local court on Friday rejected the bail application of Nooriya Haveliwala, arrested last month for mowing down two persons allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
The Sessions Court, while denying her bail, said a prima facie case has been made out against 27-year-old Nooriya and that it was a serious offence. Nooriya, a beautician by profession, was arrested on January 31 after she rammed her SUV into a police jeep and a bike in South Mumbai, killing two persons including a police sub-inspector.
Four traffic police constables were also injured in the accident.
Nooriya had tested positive for alcohol and drugs. Nooriya's lawyer said they would challenge the Sessions court order in Bombay High Court.
