Five gunmen barged into a HDFC bank located at a busy junction in Borivali (West), a western Mumbai suburb, and got away with over Rs 26 lakh cash on Monday morning.
Employees of HDFC bank were in for a rude shock when five gunmen barged into the Borivali (W) branch and made away with over Rs 26 lakh.
The branch is located at the busy Shimpoli junction on SV Road. It had just opened for business when the dacoits held security guards at gunpoint.
A police official from Borivali (W) police station confirmed the news and told rediff.com that the incident happened between 9.30 am and 10 am on Monday morning.
According to an official HDFC spokesperson, the dacoity was carried out by five gunmen, 'who held the security guards at gunpoint, and made away with Rs 26 lakh'.
Sources present in the bank during the dacoity also confirmed that no one -- including the few customers present in the branch or its employees -- was hurt in the incident.
