13/7: Maha police to grill Ahmedabad blast accused

A team of Maharashtra police is camping in Gujarat to question some of Indian Mujahideen operatives arrested in connection with the Ahmedabad serial blasts of 2008. "As a part of inter-state operations after the blasts, police teams keep on coming and going for seeking leads," a senior state police official said.

The Maharasthra team is Ahmedabad to question Danish Riaz, who was arrested by the city crime branch from Vadodara railway station on June 21, sources in the crime branch said.

Danish, a resident of Ranchi, allegedly provided shelter to some of the absconding accused including Bhatkal brothers and Tauqueer at his hometown after the Ahmedabad blasts. Danish also figured in the most wanted list of the Intelligence Bureau. "As he was arrested last month, Maharashtra police believe he can throw some light on the blasts that rocked Mumbai on Wednesday," city crime branch officials said.

Danish, who is in custody of crime branch now, will be produced on Sunday in the court for further remand in connection with Civil Hospital blasts in Shahibaug area.

As many as 58 persons died in Ahmedabad serial blasts and over 200 persons were injured. Till date 65 persons, allegedly members of IM and Students Islamic Movement of India, have been arrested in this connection.
