Preeti Singh, daughter in-law of former Madhya Pradesh minister late Shivpratap Singh did not commit suicide but was allegedly shot dead at her residence in Guna, police said on Saturday.
Police have registered a case against unidentified persons in connection with the 35-year-old's murder.
Sidhraj Singh (18) -- son of the deceased -- told the police that when he returned from market on Friday he found his house bolted from outside, the police said, adding that after he unbolted the door, he found his mother lying in a pool of blood with bullet injuries.
A profusely bleeding Preeti, daughter of former MLA of Panna, Veer Vikram Singh (Bhaiya Raja) was rushed to the hospital where she breathed her last.
According to post-mortem report, she sustained two bullet injuries from a 32 bore pistol.
