The FIR was registered at Sarojini Nagar police station in pursuance to the directions of Metropolitan Magistrate Pankaj Sharma, who had on Wednesday observed that the accused made "sexually coloured" remarks and made advances towards the complainant which required police investigation.
The police said in its compliance report that the case was registered on Wednesday itself, hours after the court order.
As per the report, the police has lodged the FIR for the alleged offences under sections 354A (sexual harassment) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code and started an investigation in the matter.
In the FIR, the complainant has accused Vishwas of making sexually coloured remarks and made advances towards her, alleging that "he was trying to exploit me physically".
Giving details, she alleged in the FIR that the leader had made advances towards her several times in 2014 and 2015.
The court had ordered lodging of the FIR on the plea of the AAP volunteer, while giving liberty to the police to arrest the political leader if required during the probe.
It had further said that the investigation shall be done uninfluenced and arrest be made when required.
The court had on February 24 reserved its order on the complaint in which the complainant claimed that she had approached the police but no action was taken against the leader.
In its status report filed before the court earlier, the Delhi police had said that during its probe, nothing was found to substantiate the allegations leveled by the complainant against Vishwas to register any criminal case against him.
