Modi mum on rebellion in party

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, facing demands for his resignation from party MLAs, on Friday refused to comment on the dissidents' activities.

The dissidents, led by Purushottam Solanki, the legislator from Bhavnagar, went public with their grievances at the birthday party of BJP leader A K Patel on Thursday night.

Patel is a close aide of Modi's predecessor and chief detractor, Keshubhai Patel.

Modi, who has been accused of functioning in a dictatorial manner, refused to answer a volley of questions by reporters outside his chamber in Vidhan Sabha.

Senior cabinet ministers, including Law Minister Ashok Bhatt, Agriculture Minister Bhupendrasinh Choudasma and Finance Minister Vaju Vala, also refused to comment.
