For Shivraj Patil, Modi does not exist

December 20, 2007 20:49 IST

It was an angry Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil during a brief press interaction when his response was sought on demands by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for a white paper on terrorism.

"I don't want to talk anything about Narendra Modi," Patil shot back when reporters sought his comment.

During his speech at the Chief Ministers' Conference on Internal Security, Modi had demanded a white paper on terrorism as he felt the policy to deal with such issues was very ambiguous.

He also raised questions over the repeated claims of the Central leadership that militancy stemmed out of economic backwardness and cited the example of Punjab, a prosperous state, which was in the grip of terrorism.

Pressed further, Patil started walking angrily towards his car saying that he was not here to react what Modi had said in his speech at the meeting.
