India on Friday twice tested-fired Trishul missile from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur, near Balasore, Orissa, to gauge its accuracy and other parameters, defence sources said.

The short-range surface-to-air missile, indigenously developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation, was fired from a mobile launcher at 1120 IST and 1445 IST, they said.

The sources said the missile, which was also tested on Thursday, was aimed at a moving object.

The solid fuel propellant missile, which can carry a warhead weighing 15kg, has a range of 9km.

Trishul, which flies at supersonic speed, is part of India's Guided Missile Development Programme.
