Minor Dalit girl raped in Punjab

A minor Dalit girl was allegedly abducted by three persons and raped by one of them in the Jaito area of the district, police said on Saturday.

The 15-year-old girl was kidnapped from Matta village on Thursday by the trio, identified as Jagseer Singh, Jagmeet Singh and Sukhchain Singh, SSP of Faridkot Gurpreet Singh Toor said.

Later, on the complaint of the girl, a student of Std X, a case was registered against the accused, Toor said.

However, the main accused Jagmeet Singh could not be arrested as he allegedly consumed some poisonous substance after committing the crime. He has been admitted to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College in a serious condition, he said.

Meanwhile, Jagseer Singh was arrested on Saturday morning while the third accused Sukhchain Singh was still absconding and efforts were on to nab him, the SSP added.
