Militants snatch security guard's weapon in Srinagar

Suspected militants snatched an automatic weapon from a judge’s personal security officer in the Qamarwari locality of Srinagar on Friday. A senior police officer said militants snatched the service weapon of a cop deployed on the security of a district and sessions judge.

“The militants escaped with the weapon. Searches were launched to trace those behind the snatching of the weapon,” he said.

The incidents came a day after militants shot at and critically wounded a security official of the SMHS hospital in the Karan Nagar locality of the Srinagar. The official, a retired paramilitary border security force trooper received a critical bullet injury in his head and is battling for life.
