Militants attack CRPF event in Kashmir, kill sub-inspector

A jawan of the Central Reserve Police Force was killed and another critically injured in a militant attack at Nowgam on the outskirts of Srinagar on Wednesday afternoon.

Militants opened fire at a road opening party of the CRPF, critically injuring an assistant sub inspector and a jawan.

The two CRPF personnel were immediately take to the army hospital for treatment.

The CRPF ASI succumbed to his injuries later.

The area has been surrounded by security forces and searches are going on.

No militant group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
