Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati welath has grown in leaps and bounds since she took over as Uttar Pradesh chief minister, her declaratioin made while filing her nomination seeking a fresh term in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council shows her to possess assets of Rs. 88 crore (880 million).
The Bahujan Samaj Party supremo has clearly registered a growth of at 35 crore (350 million rupees) since she assumed the chief minister's office in May 2007, when her declared assets were of the order of Rs. 52 crore (520 million). Evidently, her wealth has grown at the rate of nearly a crore a month.
As per her own admission, Mayawati owns a palatial bungalow built on two adjoining plots on Delhi's
expensive Sardar Patel Marg, worth Rs. 54.09 crore, commercial space measuring 34112 sq feet worth 15.50 crore in Delhi's Okhla area, besides two commercial spaces in Connaught Place--one measuring 3628 sq feet, worth 2 crore and another measuring 4535 sq feet valued at Rs. 1.27 crore. Among her acquisitions was also a mansion in Lucknow's posh Cantonement area worth Rs. 1.79 crore.
While Mayawati does not own a single vehicle, she owns 380 carats of diamonds worth 86 lakh, over a kilo of gold, worth nearly 19 lakh, a silver dinner set worth 4.4 lakh and murals worth Rs. 15 lakh. She also reported that she had bank deposits to the tune of Rs 11.39 crore and has about Rs 12.95 lakh in cash.
