Terming the Mayawati government as "most insensitive and barbaric", Union Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal on Friday said the Bahujan Samaj Party regime has surpassed the previous Mulayam Singh Yadav government on this count.
"Mayawati government is insensitive and barbaric beyond imagination. It has not recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into the mysterious death of Deputy Chief Medical Officer Y S Sachan, Lakhimpur rape and murder case besides other criminal cases as it fears that it would unmask them," he told reporters in Lucknow.
He said the life and security of innocent girls and women, especially those belonging to dalit and poor households, were in danger and murders were taking place in jails in the state where the police and the government has become insensitive and barbaric to an extent that is beyond anyone's imagination.
Jaiswal said the BSP regime has left the previous Mulayam Singh government behind as far as atrocities are concerned.
Asking the state government to recommend CBI inquiry into these cases, he said the state government was dithering fearing that the reality would come to light. The senior Congress leader charged the BSP government with being a failure on all fronts and demanded Mayawati's resignation.
He said the murder of two CMOs and that of a deputy CMO proved that leaders, officials and contractors were siphoning off funds from the health department.
Accusing the chief minister and her ministers of being totally insensitive towards the plight of the people, he said none of them visited the families of victims like in the Nighasan case where the copy of the first information report was made available to them only after the intervention of Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi.
