Talking to mediapersons at Gilgit in the Northern Areas, Gilani said the schedule for the possible meeting will have to be confirmed by the foreign office.
Singh and Gilani will be in Trinidad in November to attend the Commonwealth Summit. Gilani said Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had described as "useful and meaningful" his talks with External Affairs Minister S M Krishna on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The premier said Qureshi had briefed him about his parleys with Krishna. Gilani added that the two foreign ministers had "taken forward" the matters that he and Singh had discussed during their meeting in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh in July.
Replying to a question on the Kashmir dispute, Gilani said the composite dialogue with India is the only way forward for resolving all outstanding issues. Pakistan is making serious efforts to resume the dialogue process with India, which was stalled in the wake of the Mumbai attacks, he said.
"Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and I agreed during our meeting in Sharm el-Sheikh that dialogue is the only way forward. After all, we are not going to fight wars," Gilani said.
In reply to another question, Gilani said Pakistan has convinced the United States and the world community that drone attacks in the country's tribal belt bordering Afghanistan are counter-productive for the war on terror.
He said he hoped the US will review its policy on carrying out such attacks in view of the ground realities. Gilani said Pakistan is of the view that it should be provided the drone technology so that it could action against militants on the basis of credible and actionable information.
