An exchange of fire took place between Central Reserve Police Force jawans of the 191 battalion and the Maoists in the afternoon, in the jungles of Phulgondi village near Bedgaon police.
The police said that there are no reports of any casualties from its side. The district police and the CRPF were conducting anti-Maoist operations in the Phulgondi jungle area, when the incident took place.
On sighting the police, the Maoists started firing on them, to which they retaliated, the police said. Later, the Maoists retreated from the spot under the cover of the forest, police said.
The police also said that blood stains on the spot indicate that some Maoists might have suffered injured in the firing. Combing operations are on, the police said.
