Maoists blast middle school, mobile tower in Bihar

Maoists blew up a middle school and a mobile phone tower in Bihar's Gaya district early on Wednesday, police said.

Police officials in Gaya said that armed Maoists blew up Khajuria middle school under Banke Bazar police station and a mobile phone tower under Imamganj police station.

Maoists guerrillas used dynamite to blow up the building, which was badly damaged in the blast, police said.

A combing operation has been launched in the area.

The banned Communist Party of India-Maoist called for a 24 hours shutdown in Magadh division which comprises Gaya, Aurangabad, Nawada, Jahanabad and Arwal districts.
