Police station stoned in Manipur

Police opened fire in the air to disperse hundreds of protestors demanding immediate withdrawal of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, at Singjamei area in Imphal West district of Manipur, but no casualty was reported, sources said on Wednesday.

The protestors pelted stones at the Singjamei police station on Tuesday night.

The clashes went on till 2300 IST and the agitators blocked the Imphal-Singjamei road by piling stones, burning tyres and other materials.
