Though the indefinite curfew clamped in parts of four valley districts of Manipur on July 15 was relaxed on Monday, the situation arising out of the alleged killing of 30-year old Th Manorama Devi by Assam Rifles personnel was tense, official sources said.
Curfew was relaxed for three hours from nine am in Imphal and Greater Imphal areas of Imphal East district and Imphal West district, and for six hours in parts of Thoubal and Bishenpur districts from five a.m., the sources said.
They said, in spite of relaxation of the indefinite curfew, the situation was tense in many parts of the state particularly in valley area because of the proposed massive torch rally by different women's organisations.
Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed at various parts of the state besides stepping up of security patrol at various vulnerable points, sources said.
No untoward incident was reported so far, the sources said.
