The victim was married to Jagannath in Reni village. She alleged that since her marriage in January last year, her husband and in-laws used to beat her up and demand dowry of Rs 51,000, according to the state police.
“Her husband and brothers-in-law allegedly raped her and tattooed profanities on her forehead which her parents later made an attempt to get removed,” a state police official said.
A first information report has been registered against the three under Sections 498-A (Protection of Women against Domestic Violence Act), 376 (punishment for rape) and 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code.
