Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee visited ailing Marxist patriarch Jyoti Basu in a hospital in Kolkata on Saturday evening and said she was praying for the speedy recovery of the 95-year-old leader.
"I have been told by doctors that Basu is stable," Banerjee told reporters at the AMRI hospital in Salt Lake.
Banerjee, the Railway minister, spoke to hospital authorities and enquired about the treatment for 95-year-old Basu.
Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee visited the hospital earlier in the day.
