In the midst of controversy over the remarks of Home Secretary G K Pillai on Pakistan, Interior Minister Rehman Malik thanked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Indian counterpart P Chidambaram for "creating positivity" on Thursday.

In a message posted on the social networking website Twitter, Malik said: "We appreciate PM India and home minister India for advising their aides not to give negative statements against Pakistan. Thanks for creating positivity."

Malik was apparently referring to the criticism within India over the timing of Pillai's remarks that David Headley had revealed to interrogators that ISI and JuD chief Hafiz Mohd Saeed had played a "much more significant role" in the Mumbai attacks; and appointment of a spokesperson in the home ministry in Delhi.

Pillai had made the remarks on the eve of the Indo-Pak foreign ministers' meeting in Islamabad on July 15.

Malik had earlier on Sunday tweeted about the Indo-Pak ties, saying the talks between the two countries should not be judged "mathematically like 2+2=4" but should be seen as a "positive step".

"It is time for exchange of hearts. Let us sow seeds of love and peace, so that future generations have only the option to reap love, and noting but love... Let us save our future generations from the disease of hate and terrorism,"

Malik, who has 3,678 followers, had said.
