Sajida Bahanu Rizwan, the 12-year-old girl who died in the blasts that rocked Malegaon on September 8, was a resident of the Islamabad locality of the city and not a Pakistani national, police today said.
The girl belonged to the Islamabad locality in the town and has nothing to do with the Pakistani capital, they said.
The residents of the Islamabad locality had earlier claimed that Sajida was a native of Pakistan.
Sources had claimed that the family members of the girl performed her last rites at the Bada Kabristan itself and returned to Islamabad, prompting police to check whether she was indeed a Pakistani national.
