The process for the October 13 election to the 288-member Maharashtra assembly was set in motion today with the issue of notification by Governor Mohammad Fazal.
The last date for filing of nominations is September 22; scrutiny will be taken up the next day.
The last date for withdrawal of candidatures is September 25. Re-polling, if needed, will be done on October 15 and the counting of votes will take place on October 16, through electronic voting machines.
Around 6.59 crore people are eligible to vote.
