The Maharashtra government has decided to promote all students till Class VIII to the next class even if they don't perform well in examinations from the current academic session.
"Even if they don't perform well in the exams, they won't be failed, but simply given a grade and can move ahead to next class," School Education and Sports Department principal secretary Sanjay Kumar said on Monday.
A government resolution to the effect was issued on Monday, Kumar said.
